Unique past and green idyll: our hotel and its history

Welcome to the Kobär inn, a place with a rich and eventful history. Originally built in 1899 as the Berghotel Friedrichshöhe, it was later renamed “Kurhaus Friedrichshöhe”. In 1919 it received its current name “KOBÄR” from its then owner Mr. Koch, who combined parts of his family name and the place name Bärenburg. The Kobär house has been owned by our family since 1930 and was operated as a guesthouse until the war. During the war years it served as a military hospital, which explains the soldiers' graves in the Bärenburg cemetery. During the GDR era, the house became an FDGB holiday home, but still remained in the family's possession. Due to the difficult building material situation, it was a challenge to maintain the house. After the monetary union in 1990, restaurant operations began and a fundamental modernization took place in 1999. Today we invite you to become part of our history and relax in our wooded surroundings!
